Hurricane Harvey

When Hurricane Harvey hit, much of Texas was affected but almost nowhere more so than in our community. The flooding on Buffalo Bayou, which runs through the center of our district, devastated thousands of homes. After the storm, we brought the Texas Department of Insurance remote office here and later secured a federal Disaster Recovery Center location in our community. Like many of you, I volunteered through our church to muck our neighbors homes. And when the time came for my fall campaign fundraiser, we converted it to a hurricane relief event and raised $35,000 — contributing every penny to assist victims through West Houston Assistance Ministries and Memorial Assistance Ministries.

Expanding the Economy

I will work to ensure that individuals and businesses have every opportunity to succeed by reducing burdensome government regulations. I will also lower our taxes to put more money in our pockets. I am committed to ensuring that Texas
remains a pro-business state.

Improving Education

Our public schools must produce career ready or college ready graduates. Public education is an important economic driver and our school districts are a major reason why families continue to move to West Houston. We must attract
and retain the best teachers and provide the best education possible to our students.
